Softball Recap: Wayne Warriors vs. Springboro Panthers
Wayne had lost three straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped down to 7-13 to make it four. They took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Springboro Panthers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Warriors of the 14-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2025.
Ivy Barbour was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Selena Serrano, who got on base in two of her four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
As for Springboro, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games.
On Springboro's side, the team relied heavily on Kylene Seibel, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Trinity Wagner was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Springboro has already played their next matchup, a 7-4 loss against Milford on the 2nd. Hopefully Wayne paid attention to the Panthers' game: the next time they hit the field , they'll take on the Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
