Softball Game Preview: Field Falcons vs. Gilmour Academy Lancers

The Field Falcons will venture away from home to face off against the Gilmour Academy Lancers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Gilmour Academy took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Field, who comes in off a win.

It was a Battle of the Birds when Field duked it out with Ravenna on Tuesday. The Falcons never let the Ravens get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Falcons in their matchups with the Ravens: they've now won nine in a row.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Gilmour Academy's offense. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mentor on Tuesday. The match marked the first time this season in which the Lancers were not able to get on the board.

Camden Dreiling spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Gilmour Academy saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aiden Pike, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Field's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-5. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 10.5 runs. As for Gilmour Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 8-3.
