Softball Recap: South Point Has No Trouble Against Piketon

South Point barely beat Piketon the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Pointers were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Redstreaks on Wednesday. The Pointers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Redstreaks, too.

Kota Copley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits.

At the plate, Saratina Jackson and Josie Kidd did most of the damage at the plate: Jackson went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs, while Kidd went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those four RBI gave Jackson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Adyson Copley, who went 2-for-4 with one triple and one run.

They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: South Point kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits every time they've taken the field this season.

South Point's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Piketon, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1.

Coming up, South Point will challenge Green at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Pointers are facing the Bobcats at the right time seeing as the Bobcats are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Piketon, they will head out to take on Northwest at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
