Baseball Recap: Tyler HEAT Has No Trouble Against Slocum

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Tyler HEAT). They were the clear victor by a 20-10 margin over the Slocum Mustangs on Tuesday. With that win, Tyler HEAT brought their scoring average up to 9 runs per game.

Kelly Posada made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple.

In other batting news, John Sisco and Zayne Miller did most of the damage at the plate: Sisco scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while Miller scored three runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Austin Chamberlain was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

Tyler HEAT kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive games.

The victory got Tyler HEAT back to even at 2-2. As for Slocum, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.

Looking ahead, Tyler HEAT will head out on the road to challenge East Texas Homeschool Sports at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Tyler HEAT is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9 runs per game this season. As for Slocum, they will be playing at home against Groveton at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Slocum has given up an average of 8.2 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
