Baseball Game Preview: Brawley Wildcats vs. La Jolla Vikings

The Brawley Wildcats will head out to take on the La Jolla Vikings at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Brawley has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since March 7.

Brawley's tournament run continued when they took on San Pasqual on Tuesday. The Wildcats fell just short of the Golden Eagles by a score of 8-6.

Rane Reeves made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 3-for-4. Tate Preece was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for La Jolla, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They had just enough and edged out Rocky Mountain 3-2.

La Jolla also got a great performance from Abel Delgadillo as he pitched six innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits.

At the plate, La Jolla saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Harper Lane, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI. That's the most RBI Lane has posted since back in March of 2024. Another was Carter Strauss, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

La Jolla's record now sits at 6-7. As for Brawley, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-8.

Brawley came up short against La Jolla in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, falling 6-3. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
