Softball Recap: Albany Comes Up Short

After flying high against Milaca on Monday, Albany came back down to earth. The Huskies lost 13-2 to the St. Cloud Cathedral Crusaders on Tuesday. The loss continues a trend for the Huskies in their meetings with the Crusaders: they've now lost six in a row.

Albany saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Katie Brickweg, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI. Rowan Ellingson also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Albany's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 5-2. As for St. Cloud Cathedral, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.

Albany will head out to take on Pequot Lakes at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for St. Cloud Cathedral, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Fergus Falls at 4:30 p.m. The Otters have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.25 runs per game on average), something the Crusaders will no doubt try to take advantage of.
