Football Recap: Westlake Starts Season with Victory Against Golden Valley + How To Watch

Westlake took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Friday. Everything went their way against the Golden Valley Grizzlies as they made off with a 38-14 win. For the Warriors, this counts as revenge for the 19-14 victory the Grizzlies walked away with the last time they faced one another back in August of 2024.

Westlake's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Demanie Bell, who rushed for 182 yards and one TD while picking up 11.4 yards per carry. Bell's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 101 rushing yards dating back to last season. Ford Green was another key passer, throwing for 218 yards and four touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Westlake will face off against Agoura at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Golden Valley, they will challenge Crespi at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
