Football Recap: Westlake Starts Season with Win Against Golden Valley + How To Watch

Westlake gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They blew past the Golden Valley Grizzlies 38-14. This was payback for the Warriors, who suffered a 19-14 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Westlake's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Demanie Bell, who rushed for 182 yards and one touchdown while picking up 11.4 yards per carry. Bell's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 101 rushing yards dating back to last season. Ford Green was another key signal caller, throwing for 218 yards and four TDs while completing 83.3% of his passes.

When it comes to explaining why Golden Valley lost, don't look at Aaron McCormick. Despite the final result, he rushed for 160 yards and one score. McCormick showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 54 yards.

Westlake didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 31-14 win against Agoura on the 29th. As for Golden Valley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 41-16 loss against Crespi on the 29th.
