Basketball Recap: Gainesville Comes Up Short

Gainesville had taken Columbia down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Tuesday. The Hurricanes took a 56-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers. The Hurricanes have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Columbia's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Murkail Cray led the charge by putting up seven points in addition to five boards and three steals. Cray is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last three games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Shaheed White, who posted 11 points along with five assists and three steals.

Gainesville now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Columbia, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Coincidentally, Gainesville and Columbia will both be playing Williston the next time they take the court. The Hurricanes will head out to face the Red Devils at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, while the Tigers will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
