Baseball Recap: Denver South's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Three

It was a Battle of the Birds when Denver South took on Highlands Ranch on Friday. The Denver South Ravens walked away with a 4-1 win over the Highlands Ranch Falcons. The victory was nothing new for the Ravens as they're now sitting on three straight.

Hunter Vitello tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over 5.2 innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, Denver South's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Dylan Coppock, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI. Another was Johnny Komarowsky, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Denver South's victory was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Highlands Ranch, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2.

Looking ahead, Denver South will look to defend their home field on Monday against DSST: Montview at 4:30 p.m. Denver South's pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so DSST: Montview's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Highlands Ranch, they will venture away from home to face off against Chandler at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday.
