Recap: Sidney Team vs. Deposit-Hancock
Even though Deposit-Hancock scored an imposing 63 points on Thursday, the Sidney Team still came out on top. Sidney took their match against Deposit-Hancock 73-63. The win was all the more spectacular given Sidney's disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 570th, while Deposit-Hancock is ranked 225th).
Deposit-Hancock lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Blake Fortunato, who scored 28 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. Fortunato scored a full 44.4% of Deposit-Hancock's points, the ninth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Micah Simmons, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds and five blocks.
The victory makes it two in a row for Sidney and bumps their season record up to 3-4. As for Deposit-Hancock, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sidney will take on Varsity Opponent at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Deposit-Hancock won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Delaware Academy at 7:15 p.m. on January 5th. One thing working in Delaware Academy's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four contests.
