Recap: Del Norte Tigers vs. Custer County Bobcats
The Del Norte Tigers scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 53-28 margin over Custer County. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Del Norte has managed all season.
Leading Del Norte to victory were Kelby Mondragon and Tytus Atencio. Mondragon scored 13 points along with six assists and four steals, while Atencio scored 15 points along with three steals. It was the first time this season that Atencio scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Lashawn Trujillo, who scored six points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Custer County's loss came despite strong showings from Grant Rusk and Christopher Mullett. Rusk scored eight points, while Mullett scored eight points along with two steals.
Del Norte's victory bumped their record up to 4-8. As for Custer County, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-7.
Del Norte will head out on the road to challenge the Miners at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Trinidad comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Custer County, they will be playing at home against the Saints at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
