Soccer Game Preview: Sun Valley vs. Marvin Ridge

Sun Valley hasn't had much luck against Marvin Ridge recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Spartans will take on the Mavericks at 6:00 p.m. Sun Valley has given up an average of 2.6 goals per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Sun Valley came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 10-0 to Weddington. While losing is never fun, Sun Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 63rd, while Weddington are ranked eighth).

Meanwhile, Marvin Ridge kept a clean sheet against Ballantyne Ridge on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Wolves with a sharp 5-0 win. The high-scoring effort was just what Marvin Ridge needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

Sun Valley's loss dropped their record down to 13-6-2. As for Marvin Ridge, their victory bumped their record up to 10-2-6.

Sun Valley might still be hurting after the 7-0 defeat they got from Marvin Ridge in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Spartans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
