Basketball Recap: Christian Cordero's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Springstead over River Ridge

Springstead was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a 66-49 bruising from the River Ridge Royal Knights. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Eagles of the 73-71 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2023.

Springstead's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Christian Cordero, who shot 56% from the field to rack up 14 points. Another player making a difference was TJ Waite, who almost dropped a double-double with ten points and nine rebounds.

Springstead's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for River Ridge, they pushed their record up to 3-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Springstead and River Ridge will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Eagles will face off against rival Lecanto at 7:30 p.m. on December 3. Meanwhile, River Ridge is set to challenge their familiar foe Cypress Creek at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
