Baseball Recap: Mead Find Success

Mead hadn't done well against Erie recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Mavericks skirted past the Tigers 3-1. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Mavericks also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2022.

Kaleb Walter spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on three hits and racked up seven Ks. He has become a key player for Mead: the team is undefeated when he allows at most three earned runs, but 7-8 otherwise.

At the plate, Stryker Leick was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Mead is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season. As for Erie, with the defeat, they broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 16-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mead will challenge University at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bulldogs will roll in looking for their 12th straight victory, something the Mavericks surely won't give up without a fight. As for Erie, they will take on Douglas County at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
