Softball Game Preview: Wolcott RVT Wildcats vs. Vinal RVT Hawks

Wolcott RVT has gone a perfect 3-0 against Vinal RVT recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Wildcats will challenge the Hawks at 3:45 p.m. Wolcott RVT knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Vinal RVT likes a good challenge.

It was a proper cat-fight when Wolcott RVT duked it out with Bassick on Friday. The Wildcats put the hurt on the Lions with a sharp 21-2 win. The victory continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won nine in a row.

The team relied heavily on Brooke Curtis, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

Wolcott RVT always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .846. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .632 or higher in three consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Vinal RVT didn't have quite enough to beat Cheney Tech on Friday and fell 10-8. The Hawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Wolcott RVT pushed their record up to 7-10 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.3 runs over those games. As for Vinal RVT, their loss dropped their record down to 10-8.

Wolcott RVT took their win against Vinal RVT in their previous meeting back in April by a conclusive 19-7 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
