Shortly after spotting Archbishop Alter a 6-0 advantage midway through the opening quarter, Kenston scored to take the lead for good and just kept piling it on. Having upended Archbishop Alter 42-6 in the OHSAA Division III state championship contest, the 14-1 Bombers claimed their first state football title and earned the No. 107 ranking in MaxPreps' National Rankings!

One of only 50 football programs nationally to receive an invitation to this year's Tour of Champions, Kenston was invited to the Ohio State House to be honored for their fantastic achievement last fall. MaxPreps and the Ohio Army National Guard were thrilled to recognize this first-time recipient for winning a state championship and earning a high national ranking. The TOC was on hand to celebrate Bomber football at halftime of Kenston's varsity boys basketball game against Willoughby South, a 52-40 Bomber win.

When halftime rolled around, Sergeant First Class Aaron Galusky of the Ohio Army National Guard spoke briefly about commitment, perseverance and resilience, shared character traits of the Army National Guard and a state championship football team. SFC Galusky then presented Bomber head coach Jeff Grubich with the Army National Guard national ranking trophy and a nationally ranked rafter banner. Grubich accepted the prestigious trophy, which is shaped in the likeness of the Minuteman, and is a symbol of those shared traits. Grubich described the award as a huge honor and a credit to the kids and coaches in preparing each week before he and the Bombers took photos and conducted interviews at the conclusion of the festivities.

Congratulations again to the Kenston High School gridiron Bombers! You are one of 2018's best football teams in the country! Click here to view the Kenston TOC photo gallery and for more information about the Football TOC, please visit the MaxPreps Tour of Champions site.
