Softball Recap: Greenfield Extends Winning Streak to Eight

Greenfield had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it eight on Sunday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against the West Boylston Lions. That's more bragging rights for the Green Wave, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

MacKenzie Paulin made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Olivia Lemay and Gloria McDonald did most of the damage at the plate: Lemay went 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI, while McDonald went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most hits Lemay has posted since back in May.

Greenfield's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-6. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for West Boylston, they moved to 16-4 with that loss, which also ended their nine-game winning streak.

As of now, neither Greenfield nor the Lions have any future games scheduled.
