Baseball Game Preview: Xaverian Clippers vs. Monsignor McClancy Crusaders

Xaverian has gone 9-1 against Monsignor McClancy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Clippers are taking a road trip to square off against the Crusaders at 4:15 p.m. Monsignor McClancy took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Xaverian, who comes in off a win.

Xaverian barely beat Holy Cross the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Clippers were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Knights on Monday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Clippers.

Jude VanOoyen looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, Danny Cronin was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Xaverian is undefeated when Cronin posts two or more runs, but 3-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Lucas Zafra, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs.

Xaverian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .649. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Monsignor McClancy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against Archbishop Molloy, falling 11-2.

Monsignor McClancy's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Xaverian, their record now sits at 6-7.

Xaverian couldn't quite get it done against Monsignor McClancy in their previous meeting back in May of 2023 as they fell 8-3. Can the Clippers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
