Baseball Game Preview: Windsor Locks Raiders vs. Granby Memorial Bears

Windsor Locks is 0-10 against Granby Memorial since May of 2016 but things could change on Thursday. The Raiders will host the Bears at 3:45 p.m. Windsor Locks is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.

Windsor Locks got their first taste of in-conference action on Tuesday and they started things off strong. They skirted past Stafford 8-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Raiders have posted since April 24, 2024.

Garrett Hinckley made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

Hinckley wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jack Scholefield, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI. Xavier Angel was another, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Windsor Locks kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Granby Memorial earned a 7-3 victory over East Windsor on Tuesday. The Bears haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Granby Memorial now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Windsor Locks, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-3.

Windsor Locks suffered a grim 7-0 defeat to Granby Memorial when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Raiders avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
