Baseball Recap: Kennedy Extends Road Winning Streak to Three

Kennedy lost to Orange back in April of 2015, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Saturday. The Fighting Irish came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 8-5.

Carlos Tapia made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Kennedy is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 8-9 otherwise. Tapia was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his six plate appearances.

In other batting news, Kennedy let Jonathan Arreola and Anthony Hernandez run wild. Arreola scored a run while getting on base in three of his six plate appearances, while Hernandez scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances. That's the most runs Hernandez has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Daniel Monge, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Kennedy hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Orange struck out nine times.

Kennedy pushed their record up to 11-9 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.7 runs over those games. As for Orange, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-9-1 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kennedy will challenge Katella at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Orange, they will square off against Anaheim at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers are facing the Colonists at the right time seeing as the Colonists are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
