Basketball Recap: Jerry Ashley Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Glades Central

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Bishop Verot had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They came out on top against the Glades Central Raiders by a score of 61-54. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Vikings.

Bishop Verot's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jerry Ashley, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 boards. Ashley also posted five blocks, which is notable because Bishop Verot is 12-3 when he posts at least three blocks, but 5-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Gavin Williams, who went 6 of 12 to rack up 21 points and six steals.

Bishop Verot smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Despite the loss, Glades Central still got an impressive performance from Dimarques Brown, who went 8 for 12 from beyond the arc en route to 24 points. Brown is also on a roll when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 40% in the last eight games he's played. Jes'Tin Dortch was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds.

Bishop Verot's win bumped their record up to 17-9. As for Glades Central, their loss dropped their record down to 16-5.

Bishop Verot didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 63-51 victory against Gateway Charter on the 7th. Glades Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
