Rocky Mount had won 11 straight games and Kira Jones did her part to make it 12 on Friday. The Rocky Mount Gryphons blew past the Southern Nash Firebirds 54-34 thanks in part to Jones, who went 9-for-17 to rack up 23 points along with five boards and five steals. Her evening made it 16 games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points.

Another player making a difference was McKinley Battle, who posted eight points in addition to nine rebounds and three steals. That's the most boards she has posted since back in February of 2024.

Despite the defeat, Southern Nash had strong showings from Hailey Knight, who had ten points along with eight rebounds and three blocks, and Anastasia Fields, who put up nine points and three steals.

Rocky Mount's victory was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-1. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 29 points. As for Southern Nash, their loss dropped their record down to 9-9.

Coincidentally, Rocky Mount and Southern Nash will both be playing Northern Nash the next time they take the court. Rocky Mount will head out to face Northern Nash at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, while Southern Nash will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
