Baseball Recap: McClatchy Comes Up Short

McClatchy and Turlock squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but McClatchy had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 8-6. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Lions of the 4-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Elias Ortega made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Ryan Sandmeier, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

McClatchy's defeat dropped their record down to 22-7. As for Turlock, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 16 of their last 17 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-6-1 record this season.

McClatchy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Turlock, they have already played their next game, a 4-2 loss against Rocklin on the 9th.
