Softball Game Preview: Helena Huskies vs. Mortimer Jordan Blue Devils

The Helena Huskies will challenge the Mortimer Jordan Blue Devils at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday. Helena is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

Helena's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-0 victory over Gardendale.

Not much got past Marlee Parsons, who gave up just two hits to keep Gardendale off the board. Parsons has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned runs any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Helena's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Gracie Storey, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Mortimer Jordan didn't have quite enough to beat Athens on Friday and fell 5-4. The loss continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their matchups with the Golden Eagles: they've now lost six in a row.

Helena's victory bumped their record up to 8-0. As for Mortimer Jordan, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.

Helena skirted past Mortimer Jordan 5-3 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will Helena repeat their success, or does Mortimer Jordan have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
