Baseball Game Preview: Martins Ferry Purple Riders vs. Ridgewood Generals

The Martins Ferry Purple Riders are taking a road trip to challenge the Ridgewood Generals at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Martins Ferry is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.

Martins Ferry proved they can win big last Friday (they won by nine) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Fairless, sneaking past 2-1.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ridgewood). Everything went their way against Conotton Valley on Saturday as they made off with a 14-3 win. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Generals with their most commanding win of the season.

Martins Ferry pushed their record up to 10-9 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Ridgewood, the victory got them back to even at 10-10.

Martins Ferry couldn't quite get it done against Ridgewood in their previous meeting back in May of 2022 as they fell 3-0. Can the Purple Riders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
