Basketball Game Preview: McConnellsburg Spartans vs. North Star Cougars + How To Watch

The McConnellsburg Spartans and the North Star Cougars will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in McConnellsburg's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.

McConnellsburg is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Tussey Mountain: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Spartans blew the Titans out of the water with a 67-27 final score. The victory continues a trend for the Spartans in their matchups with the Titans: they've now won nine in a row.

Brayden Ramsey was his usual excellent self, going 9-for-17 on his way to 26 points and four steals. The matchup was his third in a row with at least 16 points. Hoyt Glenn was another key player, putting up 15 points and five steals.

McConnellsburg smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 13 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but North Star ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They secured a 49-45 W over Shanksville Stonycreek.

McConnellsburg's win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for North Star, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.
