Baseball Recap: Shades Valley Gets the Win

Shades Valley proved they can win big last Saturday (they won by six) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Minor Tigers, sneaking past 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Mounties have posted since March 21st.

Eli Nelson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Nelson wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Landon Kyle, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Joshua Moore was another, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Shades Valley's record is now 6-22. As for Minor, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-24 record this season.

Shades Valley will take on Parker at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mounties' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Thundering Herd have averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season. Minor does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
