Baseball Recap: Tustin Victorious

Tustin's game on Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over the Ocean View Seahawks. For the Tillers, this counts as revenge for the 11-3 victory the Seahawks walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2024.

Adam Whyte spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Daniel Benally, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and two runs. He has become a key player for Tustin: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-12-1 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Roman Lavander, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Tustin's win bumped their record up to 4-13-1. As for Ocean View, they now have a losing record of 9-10.

Tustin wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 5-4 victory against Segerstrom on the 11th. As for Ocean View, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 10-5 loss against Fullerton on the 11th.
