Baseball Recap: Wellston Tigers vs. Southwest Covenant Patriots

Wellston had lost six straight at home dating back to last season, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 5-21 to make it seven. They fell 10-7 to the Southwest Covenant Patriots. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Patriots this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-5 on Wednesday.

As for Southwest Covenant, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 11-7. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games.

For Southwest Covenant's part, Kale Karn made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. Karn was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Evan Beshears was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Armitage, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run.
