Basketball Recap: Grove Finds Playoff Glory Versus Rhode Island School for the Deaf

With a playoff win on the line, Grove rose to the challenge on Thursday. They walked away with a 60-49 win over Rhode Island School for the Deaf. This was a revenge game for the Hawks: when they faced off against Rhode Island School for the Deaf last Monday, they had to take a 53-46 loss.

Several Rhode Island School for the Deaf players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Correy Oliveira, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and 18 boards. Rhode Island School for the Deaf is 7-1 when Oliveira posts ten or more rebounds, but 8-11 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Howard Valentin, who almost dropped a triple-double with 13 points, nine boards, and 11 assists.

The victory got Grove back to even at 1-1. As for Rhode Island School for the Deaf, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-12.

As of now, neither Grove nor Rhode Island School for the Deaf have any future games scheduled.
