Softball Recap: Somonauk Starts Season with Loss on the Road

Somonauk kicked off their season on the road on Monday and hit a couple of potholes. They fell just short of the Reed-Custer Comets by a score of 7-6.

Kennedy Barshinger made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Ashley McCoy, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Coming up, Somonauk will square off against Aurora Central Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Aurora Central Catholic's pitching crew has only allowed 2.4 runs per game this season, so Somonauk's hitters will have their work cut out for them. Reed-Custer has already played their next game (against Gardner-South Wilmington), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
