Recap: Kouts Mustangs & Fillies vs. Illiana Christian Vikings
The Kouts Mustangs & Fillies suffered their closest defeat since December 19, 2023 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Illiana Christian by a score of 44-41. Kouts was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Vikings apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Illiana Christian's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Avery Olthof, who scored six points along with ten rebounds and two steals. Ella Olthof was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with two steals.
Kouts has not been sharp recently as the team's lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-17 record this season. As for Illiana Christian, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 11-8.
Kouts will head out on the road to take on the Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Illiana Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Victory Christian Academy is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
