Basketball Recap: Ralston Takes a Loss

Ralston was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 33rd straight loss dating back to last season. They were dealt a 58-22 defeat at the hands of the Conestoga Cougars. The Rams were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-7.

Despite the loss, Ralston still got an impressive performance from Lilly Elsasser, who posted six points and eight rebounds. The dominant performance gave Elsasser a new career-high in rebounds.

Conestoga's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ayla Garrett led the charge by putting up 17 points along with seven steals and six boards. Garrett has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last ten times she's played. Grace Rodis was another key player, going 6 of 9 on her way to 13 points along with six rebounds and five assists.

Ralston's loss dropped their record down to 0-12. As for Conestoga, their win bumped their record up to 3-7.

Ralston will challenge Malcolm at 6:00 p.m. on January 16th. As for Conestoga, they will face off against Nebraska City at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
