Baseball Game Preview: Mohawk Warriors vs. Upper Sandusky Rams

For the second straight game, Mohawk will face off against Upper Sandusky. The Warriors will square off against the Rams at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Mohawk's pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so Upper Sandusky's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Mohawk is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Upper Sandusky just ended the team's seven-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rams. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Warriors' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

For Upper Sandusky's part, Josh Heilman made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Heilman has posted since back in May of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Heilman wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kaleb Francis, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Upper Sandusky was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in ten consecutive games.

Upper Sandusky's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-2. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Mohawk, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-3.
