The Lake Country Lutheran Lightning will challenge the University School of Milwaukee Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lake Country Lutheran is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.
Lake Country Lutheran fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Lakeside Lutheran on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 4-3. The Lightning's loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
Lake Country Lutheran saw nine different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Menzel, who went 2-for-3 with one run. Another was Gabe Snyder, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, University School of Milwaukee won against Luther Prep on Tuesday with ten runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 10-4 margin over the Phoenix. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won nine contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Max Miller made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, University School of Milwaukee got a big performance out of Augie Baum, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits Baum has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Andy Werner, who went 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
University School of Milwaukee kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
University School of Milwaukee has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Lake Country Lutheran, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-5.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Lake Country Lutheran hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .315. However, it's not like University School of Milwaukee struggles in that department as they've averaged .332. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Lake Country Lutheran's way against University School of Milwaukee when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Lake Country Lutheran made off with a 9-1 victory.
