Basketball Recap: Makkiah Sanders and Uzziah Sanders Secure Win for Lincoln Southwest

Lincoln Southwest won against Omaha Central last Friday with 73 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Saturday. The Lincoln Southwest Silver Hawks put the hurt on the Omaha North Vikings with a sharp 73-53 victory. This was a revenge game for the Silver Hawks: when they faced off against the Vikings back in February, they had to take a 80-70 loss.

Lincoln Southwest was led to victory by Uzziah Sanders and Makkiah Sanders. Uzziah went 9-for-16 on his way to 29 points along with seven boards and four steals, while Makkiah shot 59% from the field to rack up 26 points. Makkiah has been hot, having posted 17 or more points the last eight times he's played. Another player making a difference was Hudson Mezger, who posted nine points.

When it comes to explaining why Omaha North lost, don't look at Jerri'On Williams. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double with 20 points and ten rebounds. Tony Smith also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

The win made it two in a row for Lincoln Southwest and bumps their season record up to 14-9. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.0 points over those games. As for Omaha North, they moved to 10-14 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Lincoln Southwest will head out to square off against Omaha Westside at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Omaha Westside will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Lincoln Southwest surely won't give up without a fight. Omaha North does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
