Baseball Recap: Oviedo Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Bishop Moore, Oviedo was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They walked away with an 8-3 win over the Seminole Seminoles. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Lions as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Oviedo got a great performance from Henry Alarcon as he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Alarcon has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Chase Negron was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. What's more, he posted two hits, the most he's had since back in March. Another player making a difference was Benjamin Lau, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Oviedo's record is now 7-15. As for Seminole, their loss was their ninth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-18.

Oviedo has already played their next contest, a 3-2 win against Lake Howell on the 7th. As for Seminole, they will challenge Lake Mary at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
