Softball Recap: Polk County Comes Up Short

Polk County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against the McMinn Central Chargers, falling 12-6. If the Wildcats were looking for revenge after losing 12-7 to the Chargers when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Zoie Hatcher made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (two).

Polk County's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for McMinn Central, the win got them back to even at 3-3.

Looking ahead, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Polk County Wildcats take on Red Bank Lions at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Polk County has given up an average of 10 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for McMinn Central, they will face off against Copper Basin at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
