Basketball Recap: Hinkley Sets Scoring Season-High Against KIPP Denver Collegiate

Hinkley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 37th straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against the KIPP Denver Collegiate White Tigers, falling 50-30. One positive for the Thunder, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Despite the defeat, Hinkley had strong showings from Uniece Reynolds, who posted 11 points, and Alaysha Ramos Vazquez, who scored seven points in addition to seven boards and four steals. Those seven points gave Ramos Vazquez a new career-high.

Leading KIPP Denver Collegiate to victory were Shaila Ramirez and Nicole Ricalday. Ramirez dropped a double-double with 22 points and 12 rebounds, while Ricalday put up eight points along with 20 boards and four steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Ramirez has scored at least a third of KIPP Denver Collegiate's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ace Martinez, who earned five points.

Hinkley's loss dropped their record down to 0-19. As for KIPP Denver Collegiate, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-11.

Hinkley has already played their next matchup (against DMLK), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for KIPP Denver Collegiate, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against DSST: Conservatory Green at 6:00 p.m.
