Football Recap: Elmore County Piles Up the Points Against Sylacauga

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Elmore County). They really took it to the Sylacauga Aggies for the full four quarters, racking up a 42-14 victory. Considering the Panthers have won four games by more than 23 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Gage Davis had a dynamite game, throwing for 180 yards and four touchdowns while completing 77.8% of his passes, and also punching in one score on the ground. What's more, he racked up 148.1 passer rating, the most he's had since back in November of 2024. Eli Thames helped Davis out on the ground, rushing for 73 yards and one TD.

When it comes to explaining why Sylacauga lost on Friday, don't look at Cj Franklin. Despite the final result, he rushed for 55 yards and a pair of scores, and also threw for 133 yards on 16 of 24 attempts.

The win made it two in a row for Elmore County and bumps their season record up to 6-3. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 38.5 points over those games. As for Sylacauga, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Coming up, Elmore County will venture away from home to square off against Chilton County at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers will be up against the Tigers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 32.67 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Sylacauga, they will be playing at home against Glenwood at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Gators' defense has only allowed 14.7 points per game this season, so the Aggies' offense will have their work cut out for them.
