Basketball Recap: Faith Christian Sets Scoring Season-High Against Lawrence Academy

Faith Christian scored the most points they've had this season on Saturday, but it wasn't enough. They took an 80-73 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lawrence Academy Warriors. The Patriots' loss continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Faith Christian lost, don't look at NOAH MAYO. Despite the final result, he posted 26 points. MAYO's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was BLAYDE HINTON, who earned 14 points.

Nike Wiggins was his usual excellent self, going 13 for 24 on his way to 43 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals for Lawrence Academy. The dominant performance gave Wiggins a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Hoggard, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds.

Faith Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Lawrence Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-6.

Faith Christian will square off against Liberty Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Liberty Christian Academy will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Faith Christian surely won't give up without a fight. As for Lawrence Academy, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, an 84-70 loss against Northside - Pinetown on the 30th.
