Big VIII recap September 4, 2013
Santiago's Blake Barnett recorded the longest rushing play in Big VIII this season in his game against Hart last week. Barnett scampered for 87 yards on the play and finished with 92 on the day as his team fell to the Indians.
Roosevelt moved up to 106 from 205 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Mustangs climbed the ranks as a result of beating Tustin 39-8.
Santiago's dynamic duo of Barnett and Jordan Huffman proved tough for Hart to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Barnett threw for 289 yards and 5 touchdowns and Huffman had 128 yards receiving. Isaiah Manley helped Santiago's passing attack out by catching 5 balls for 88 yards.
Jeff Steinberg's team's dynamic duo of Barnett and Huffman proved to be unstoppable against Mike Herrington's team, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Tre Watson was a force in the backfield as Centennial defeated Liberty.
Huffman was the best receiver in the league this week as the Sharks fell to the Indians.

Watson was the best running back in Big VIII this week. He ran for 319 yards on 33 carries as the Huskies lost to the Indians. Robert Webber also contributed to the rushing game with 61 yards on the ground.
He was 23-43 with 1 interceptions.

Barnett has thrown for 289 yards this season, while Huffman, a 6-foot-3 receiver, has 11 catches for 128 yards. Centennial's Watson leads the league in rushing yards with 319.
Matt Logan's team was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to second in the league. Earlier in the week, the Huskies defeated the Patriots 60-42.
