Basketball Recap: Wasilla Comes Up Short

On Thursday, the Wasilla Warriors were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 46-42 to the Nome-Beltz Nanooks. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alaska basketball rankings (they are ranked 26th, while the Nanooks are ranked first).

Wasilla dropped their record down to 3-8 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Nome-Beltz, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wasilla will face off against Service at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Nome-Beltz, they will challenge Unalakleet at 7:00 p.m. on January 24th.
