Basketball Game Preview: Dirigo Cougars vs. Boothbay Seahawks

The Dirigo Cougars will square off against the Boothbay Seahawks at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses apiece.

On Monday, Dirigo opened the new year with a less-than-successful 63-50 defeat to Maranacook.

Meanwhile, 2025 welcomed Boothbay with a 47-27 loss courtesy of Winthrop on Monday. The game marked the Seahawks' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Dirigo's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Boothbay, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.

Dirigo won a matchup that couldn't have been any closer when the teams last played back in January of 2024, slipping by Boothbay 53-52. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Boothbay's Finn Harkins, who almost dropped a double-double on 31 points and nine boards. Now that he won't be playing on Wednesday, will it be easier for Dirigo to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
