Softball Game Preview: Woodville Eagles vs. Huntington Red Devils

Woodville hasn't had much luck against Huntington recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Eagles will head out to face off against the Red Devils at 6:30 p.m.

Woodville managed to slip by Pollok Central the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Eagles came up short against the Bulldogs on Tuesday, falling 8-1. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Eagles couldn't push the score so high this time.

Woodville saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kamron Runnels, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.

Meanwhile, Huntington came tearing into Friday's matchup with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Lumberjacks as they made off with a 20-1 victory. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 21, 2023, but that streak is no more.

Huntington pushed their record up to 14-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.8 runs over those games. As for Woodville, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-14.

Woodville might still be hurting after the 9-0 loss they got from Huntington in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
