Preview: Wilmington Wildcats vs. Manteno Panthers
Wilmington and Manteno are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2019, but not for long. The Wilmington Wildcats will be playing in front of their home fans against the Manteno Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Wilmington focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Monday.
Even though Wilmington has not done well against Reed-Custer recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way. Wilmington walked away with a 44-34 victory over Reed-Custer. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Wilmington.
Wilmington's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Clara Smith, who scored 11 points along with 5 rebounds and 4 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Sami Liaromatis, who scored 13 points along with 6 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Manteno suffered a rough 53-27 defeat at the hands of Peotone on Monday.
Wilmington's victory bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Manteno, they now have a losing record at 2-3.
