Baseball Recap: Conway Find Success

Conway lost to Socastee last Wednesday, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Tigers came out on top against the Braves by a score of 8-5.

Landon Barker looked comfortable as he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Conway is 4-2 when he allows at most one walk, but 5-6 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Conway got a massive performance out of Carsten Huggins, who scored two runs while going 2-for-2. Those two runs gave Huggins a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Will Neff, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.

Conway was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Conway now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Socastee, they dropped their record down to 2-13 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Conway is set to challenge their familiar foe Carolina Forest at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Socastee will face off against rival St. James at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
