Kapa'a waltzed into their game on Wednesday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They had just enough and edged out the Kauai Red Raiders 6-4. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Kaitin Mundon was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. Mundon was also big at the plate, going 3-for-8 with one run and one RBI.
Mundon wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Pierce Rosario, who got on base in five of his nine plate appearances with two stolen bases and one RBI. Kaimana Chong also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Kapa'a's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Kauai, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.
As of now, neither Kapa'a nor the Red Raiders have any future games scheduled.
