Basketball Recap: Tri-County North Picks Up Seventh Consecutive Victory

Tri-County North had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.2 points) and they went ahead and made it seven on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Stivers School for the Arts Tigers with a sharp 76-52 win. The Panthers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Tigers, too.

Tri-County North was led to victory by Bella Cherry and Leinani Garcia. Cherry went 9 of 20 en route to 25 points along with 11 assists and 11 rebounds, while Garcia went 12 for 25 on her way to 34 points. The matchup was Garcia's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Lola Grieshop was another key player, putting up eight points in addition to five boards and three blocks.

Tri-County North smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in seven consecutive games.

Tri-County North's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-6. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.3 points per game. As for Stivers School for the Arts, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.

Tri-County North will square off against Twin Valley South at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Stivers School for the Arts, a feisty cat fight is on tap when the Stivers School for the Arts Tigers duke it out with the Meadowdale Lions at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
